Cleansing
We recommend that you use a shampoo designed for your hair type. You may find that you have a combination of hair types for example; greasy at the roots and dry at the ends. We will always advise you on the correct products to use. Using large amounts of shampoo is not necessary. By evenly spreading a small amount throughout the hair and thoroughly rinsing with water, you will effectively cleanse the hair without making the hair flyaway or lank.
Moisturising
It is important to moisturise your hair on a regular basis unless otherwise instructed by your stylist. Some hair moisturisers work on the outside of the hair making detangling easier and others work on the inside structure of the hair strengthening it from within. Your hair may become damaged by many elements such as colouring, using heated appliances, extreme weather and climatic conditions. Prevention is always better than cure so always protect your hair if it is to be exposed to any of these harmful elements.
Maintenance
In order to maintain the shape of your style and health of your hair, you should visit the salon regularly for a cut and style. By the term ‘cut and style’, we mean that the hair is ‘trimmed’ back into shape. Depending on the length of your hair, you should try and visit the salon every 4-5 weeks for short hair, 5-6 weeks for medium length hair and 6-10 weeks for long hair. Of course this may vary for each individual but it is a great guide for organising your next appointment.
Equipment and Tools
There are many implements that may be used for styling hair. Most are heated appliances and should be used with caution. With hairdryers you should always point the air flow down the hair and use a cool setting to avoid scorching the hair. Where it is not possible to reduce the temperature, you should always use a heat protective product and avoid using going over the hair too many times. Always ensure that the hair is fully dried before using any heated appliances directly on the hair.
